LA Galaxy appear to be suffering from the loss of their talisman Landon Donovan

LA Galaxy certainly appear to be suffering from the loss of their talisman Landon Donovan, as they simply not have been at their best this season.

The team failed to get any points in a league match after the 2-0 loss against Vancouver. This defeat has left with team just one place above the bottom of the table. It would have been an unimaginable position a few months ago after LA Galaxy lifted the MLS cup. Since the 2-0 win over Chicago Fire in the opening game of the season, the team have been looking extremely poor.

After having signed Steven Gerrard from Premier league outfit Liverpool, things appeared to be on the up for LA Galaxy even after the exit of Donovan. The club’s former captain has been a major reason behind the success that LA Galaxy have enjoyed in the league. It was suggested that the presence of our great players like Robbie Keane would help the club tide over the absence of a player like Donovan until Gerrard came to the club after the end of the Premier League campaign. Coach Bruce Arena is a man under pressure, but he has stated that there will be no excuses if Galaxy repeat the poor performance against Seattle Sounders in the next match.

“We have no excuses. We were soundly beat over 90 minutes. They out-competed us from the start, and, as a starting point, if you don’t have the battle in you, the right kind of [drive to be] competing in a game, you have no chance. We didn’t position ourselves to be able to win this game. And give Vancouver credit: They simply outplayed us from start to finish. We got beat in every aspect of the game. There’s no area we can feel good about. Maybe, personally, every player can look at their performance and make sure that it doesn’t happen again,” said Arena.
